We all dream about our great escape. Four emerging screenwriters got the chance of a lifetime to share tales of travel in FOUR STORIES, a set of short films produced by Roman Coppola that feature a slew of great actors and directors, plus one film that Coppola directed himself. With the help of Intel and W Hotels, this project was all about harboring new talent and supporting rising visionaries in filmmaking. Get lost in the strange worlds of these films, each inspired by a different W location.

Modern/Love

directed by Lee Toland Krieger

Two twenty-somethings take the next step in their long-distance cyber romance to meet in person for the first time during a stay at W Doha Hotel & Residences. Written by Amy Jacobowitz, directed by Lee Toland Krieger, and featuring Robert Schwartzman and Naomi Scott, this modern romance asks: do technologically-mediated feelings hold true in real life?

The Mirror Between Us

directed by Kahlil Joseph

Two young women embark on a dreamlike adventure through the islands surrounding the W Retreat & Spa – Maldives after a mysterious event turned both of their worlds upside down. Featuring Nicole Beharie and Dan’ee Doty, the film is a poetic look into a beautifully serene location.

¡El Tonto!

directed by Lake Bell

Featuring the hilarious Kyle Mooney, this short is the story of a socially-challenged vacationer at W Mexico City who strikes up an unlikely friendship with one of the country’s best-known luchadores. Written by Ben Sayeg, the comedy is all about getting out of your comfort zone and making travel buddies in the strangest of places.

Comical and surreal, this short featuring comedian Michael Govier tells the story of a traveler at W Washington D.C. who gets a mysterious gift: an Ultrabook that grants all his wishes. Things get weird once the character starts using his powers for his own devices, creating some unmissable appearances from actress Karolina Wydra (Crazy, Stupid, Love) and Aussie musician Ben Lee.

 

Die Again, Undead One

directed by Roman Coppola & Jason Schwartzman

In addition to the short films, Four Stories judge and executive producer Roman Coppola co-wrote and directed an intergalactic vampire tale alongside Jason Schwartzman (who stars in the short) and actress Margarita Kallas. A hilariously meta take on the thriller genre, W Hollywood gets turned into a set for some midnight mayhem.
