It’s 3am. You’re back in your hotel room. You desperately need a cocktail. Luckily, we’ve got the guys from the breakout pop duo Timeflies to shake things up. Before hitting W Scottsdale‘s WET Deck for a killer W Music: Live party, we challenged Cal and Rob to mix up their favorite cocktail using nothing but the contents of a hotel minibar. Since the band got big recording their first hits in college, in a makeshift studio underneath Rob’s dorm bunk bed, we trust the guys will know how to make a party with whatever is available.

1. Choose your Glass

Cal: You picked the least amount of volume you could.

Rob: Size doesn’t matter.

2. Get some liquid Courage

Cal: We went to a party at the pool today. Maybe a little too hard…

3. Pick your poision

Rob: When I’m making a cocktail I just look for vodka. I want a dirty martini. But there are no olives here!

Cal: You’re just going to take all the oranges?

Rob: Yes, it’s a play on an orange. You’ll see.

Cal: That sounds disgusting.

4. Mix, taste, repeaT

Cal: I’m thinking the spice in this “Wicked Hot Jack” is going to mix perfectly with this spiked ice tea.

5. SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE

Rob: I’m letting the flavors really marinate here. I’m going for more simple and some sweet. I’m channeling Bobby Flay, he keeps it simple but strong.

6. Make it pretty

Cal: This is the Wicked Ice Tea. It’s inspired by my time in Massachusetts. It will get you drunk.

Rob: This is the “Orange You Glad You Blacked Out.” It’s orange, with a healthy amount of vodka, and a gummy bear.

Cal: May the best win.

Rob: I will.

7. Make it a Competition

W Insider Rachael Bienz: (Tasting Rob’s cocktail) I like the straw. And…it’s good. Strong. (Tasting Cal’s cocktail) Oh. I like this one! It’s really really good. I don’t like to taste the alcohol so this one works for me.
