Wake Up Call Five Things You Missed at W Bali During Wake Up Call

W Bali brought Wake Up Call 2018 to the finish line, featuring a mix of superstar DJs, pop divas and all the coconut drinks and Bali sunsets you could handle. In case you couldn’t make it IRL, here’s what you missed!

Epic Performances

For her set, Swedish grunge-pop diva Tove Lo brought sass and hits, flashing the audience during “Talking Body” and getting the crowd’s hands up during “Habits (Stay High).” Full of surprises, she threw in a cover of Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin’ Bout You,” proving she can make lonely ballads hit with the same force of her party anthems.

Bali Beauty

Did we mention this all took place in Bali? The Indonesian city has some of the best food in the world and of course, Bali vibes!  Whether you were enjoying two for one cocktails at the Starfish Bloo (we recommend the espresso martini as a good way to get hyped for the night) or eating a Wagyu steak at Fire, you couldn’t beat those Bali sunsets. The Wet Decks was were the action was, whether you were dancing all night to world famous DJs, or drifting along in a raft while enjoying the custom-made playlists.

Slow Magic Casts a Spell

While we like to keep the party going at Wake Up Call, we also like to mix it up a bit. While the line-up was heavy on rising superstar DJs like Sam Feldt and Klingande, we also found room for artists like Slow Magic. The mysterious producer never plays it safe, and spent his set mixing thumping beats with indie-rock melodies, occasionally taking a break to pound out some live, tribal drums, all while wearing a glowing mask!

Get Closer to the Music

Australian brother/sister duo Angus & Julia Stone brought folky, harmony-rich sing-a-longs such as “Big Jet Planes,” which got more than a few audience members in their feelings. Hours earlier, a lucky crew of Elite SPG members got a chance to hang with the duo while snacking on wine and tapas at an SPG Moments meet and greet. Detox. Retox. Repeat.

Hydration is key at music festivals, and W Bali kept the water flowing with coconuts at every turn. For those who had a particularly nice time the night before, the Fuel Bar was there to serve up Radiant Skin juice (a healing blend of beet, apple, carrot, and ginger) for that ultimate hangover remedy. If you were looking to burn off some calories, the Sweat gym was open 24 hours if you needed to hit the treadmill or pump some iron. And for the early risers, there was morning yoga by the pool, in case you wanted to do a downward dog as the sun comes up.

If you’re sorry you missed it, no sweat — stay tuned for news about what we have in store for next year!
