10 Questions With Nina Sky

Up Close 10 Questions With Nina Sky

Nina Sky is a R&B duo compromised of identical twins Nicole and Natalie Albino whose music and devil-may-care attitude can’t be replicated. The musically gifted duo grew up in Queens surrounded by the NYC music scene, obsessed with strong female performers of the 90s like Mary J. Blige, Sade, The Cranberries and J Lo. They channel this inspiration into soulful duets and rhythmic pop beats, recently releasing the addicting club track “Champion Lover.”
We caught up with the dynamic twins before their show tearing up at W Washington D.C.’s POV LIVE rooftop dance party on October 14th. Learn all about the first album Nicole and Natalie ever owned, their unique style motto, and their dream musical collaboration.

How would you describe your musical style?

Nicole & Natalie: Our music is a mixture of all genres and styles we listen to. At our core, we’re an R&B group but we love to experiment.

What is the first album you ever owned?

N&N: Mary J Blige “What’s the 411.”

What are three things you look for when you see an artist play live?

N&N: It’s important when artists play live that they connect with their crowd. It’s really disappointing when we go to see someone play and half of the show, they have their back to the audience. If you are a vocalist, sing live. If you can play instruments, that’s always awesome too.

Where can we find you on a Friday night?

N&N: On stage.

If we’re going to buy you a drink, what should it be?

N&N: Sangria or Aperol Spritz.

A song you have stuck in your head these days:

N&N: A. Chal – Vibe W/U.

Who’s your icon?

N&N: Jennifer Lopez.

If you could play music with one person living or dead who would it be?

N&N: There are so many but if we could collaborate with anyone it would be Outkast.

An insider tip on what bands or artists are about to get big?
